Reviews
Olallie State Park is gorgeous, and definitely worth the trip. The photos you see on social media don’t do it justice, must see with your own eyes.
Pros
+ 2.6 miles round trip with only a 500 foot elevation gain. Most of that elevation gain is all at once, but not a terribly hard hike.
+ Three different main stops to view the waterfall, at the halfway point you can see the falls from a distance if you don’t want to continue on, towards the very end of the trail you will take some stairs down to see the falls as pictured in social media, and then a short walk past the stairs you can walk a bridge that is directly over the falls.
+ River views almost the whole hike
Cons
- Muddy and ROCKY! Wear proper shoes that will keep you from slipping! I did not, and slipped and landed on a rock. It gets very slippery on this hike.
- PARKING. There is not a lot of parking, and you may need to park up to almost a mile away from the trailhead.
- Bathrooms, limited restrooms and they are very dirty. When I was visited there was no soap or water so bring some hand sanitizer!
Olallie State Park is a beautiful place along I-90 that if you know the secrets throughout, it will be one of the most beautiful places you will see. There are loads of waterfalls and beautiful spots to drive into the mountains, but make sure to listen to all the posted rules such as not swimming in certain parts of the river.
We love this place: close to the I-90, clean, plenty of picnic areas, the river makes it nice and fresh, waterfalls are beautiful! We love to sit by the river and soak our feet in the clear mountain water.
The views are gorgeous! We like to go there on the sunny days when the stones are shiny at the sun and playing with the your brain with the colors. The hikes are in the forest, so you do not need any sunscreen to stay outside.
Highly recommended place with your friends and family or just by yourself. There are rangers at the park that makes that place very safe.
I love this spot. It was super quiet all night (no interstate traffic sounds), and it was beautiful the next morning. There is a Porta Potty which is nice too.
Such a beautiful place for a hike and pictures.
Its a nice short hike thats great for my toy dogs. Not crowded at all but neither is it secluded that i wouldnt mind the drive and hike alone with my tiny dogs.
40 minutes tops or an hour if you want to take your time and let your dogs sniff about.
A beautiful place for a day trip! A short 2.5 mile round trip hike to twin falls. It is steep in parts so not the best for little kids or those with health conditions that prohibit intense exercise. I would rate the hike medium difficulty. The other smaller waterfall, Weeks falls, is near the picnic area and is an easy hike and good for small kids as well as elderly or those who prefer a easier hike. There are several spots along the river to cool off and sit and relax.
Great park, has 2 sides or areas about 10 minutes apart and differentexits off the interstate. The twin falls area seems to get the most attention with hiking, biking and kayaking. The Weeks falls section is good for a picnic, kids, and some free camping (boondocking) along the road.
